The National Park Service (NPS) is leading an effort to begin a study of Iowa's Yellow River watershed, with hope for a more substantial watershed improvement project to follow. The Yellow is a richly diverse watershed with scenic woodlands and trout fisheries surrounded by both agricultural and park lands. Several agencies met recently in Waukon, Iowa where they held a public meeting on March 26, 2003 to collect input on structuring the initiative and presenting tools and information via the internet. A final meeting will be held in April, 2005 to present the product of efforts to respond to this input. The Yellow River Watershed Initiative Homepage is nearing completion and will take its final form in the coming months. Available tools and information can be viewed by following the links below.
