Save Our Streams Program
A grassroots river conservation
program. Citizen involvement in watershed protection activities
has proven to have measurable, positive results on the quality
of our nation's waters.Hands-on involvement in stream and
wetland projects makes the causes and impacts of pollution
seem immediate and real to volunteers, in a way that hearing
or reading about these issues simply cannot do.

National
Nutrient Guidance Manual: Rivers and Streams
The Nutrient Criteria Technical
Guidance Manual: Rivers and Streams is one in a series of
water-body-specific documents that support the President's
Clean Water Action Plan and the National Nutrient Strategy.
The intent of this document is to provide States and Tribes
with methods to assess water-body nutrient impairment and
develop ecoregion-specific nutrient criteria. The Rivers and
Streams document provides background information on classifying
rivers and streams, selecting criteria variables, designing
monitoring programs, building a database analyzing nutrient
and algal data, deriving regional criteria, and implementing
management practices.

Environmental Protection Agency’s
(EPA’s) Contaminated Sediment Management Strategy.
Purpose is to summarize EPA’s
understanding of the extent and severity of sediment contamination,
including uncertainties about the dimension of the problem;
to describe the cross-program policy framework in which EPA
intends to promote consideration and reduction of ecological
and human health risks posed by sediment contamination; and
to describe actions, EPA believes, are needed to bring about
consideration and reduction of risks posed by contaminated
sediments
