UMBSN Map Gallery
Maps will be added to this gallery as we are able to acquire, develop, and create appropriate cartography for new and historical datasets dealing with issues affecting clean water in the Upper Mississippi Basin.

Water Quality Mapping

The following maps provide an overview of the contribution of the various watersheds in the Upper Mississippi Basin to the primary contaminants of Suspended Solids and Nitrogen. Other maps of the Basin can be used to assess the contribution of various practices, topography, and policies to the levels of these contaminants found in waters throughout the Basin. Another valuable assessment of agricultural contributions to water contaminants in the Mississippi Basin can be found in the following publication: Agricultural Nitrogen Trends in the Mississippi Basin, 1949-1997.

The various factors influencing the quality of waters in the Upper Mississippi Basin can be further assessed with the help of the information contained in the following series of maps. Follow the links to view maps according to theme.
